Tyler Technologies Grows in Georgia School Market With Two New Contracts for MUNIS Software

DALLAS, May 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL - News) announced today that it has signed contracts to provide its MUNIS financial management software and related professional services to the Rockdale County Public Schools and the Liberty County School System, both in Georgia. Each contract includes a comprehensive suite of financial and human resource products from Tyler, as well as integrated solutions to help each district optimize its overall efficiency. In addition, Tyler will provide the districts with professional implementation services and ongoing maintenance and support.

The contracts have a combined value of more than $1.3 million and follow on the heels of two other Tyler MUNIS software contracts with educational agencies in the state of Georgia-the Metropolitan Regional Educational Service Agency and the Gainesville City School District-reinforcing Tyler's growing presence in Georgia's K-12 school market.

Richard Peterson, Jr., President of Tyler's MUNIS Financial Management Solutions, views the agreements as a reflection of Tyler's commitment to expansion in Georgia. "Tyler is dedicated to providing Georgia school districts with fully integrated financial management software-a fact that is evident in our recent wins in the state. We're pleased to welcome both the Rockdale County Schools and the Liberty County Schools to the Tyler community. We expect continued growth in Georgia and look forward to successful long-term partnerships with these new clients," he stated.

The Liberty County Schools will utilize the software under a three-year ASP (Application Service Provider) arrangement with Tyler. This "Software as a Service" model will allow all of the District's MUNIS software applications and data to be hosted and managed offsite at Tyler's Falmouth, Maine facility.

According to Jason Rogers, Executive Director of Finance for the Liberty County Schools, the added benefit of Disaster Recovery services factored significantly into the District's decision to contract for ASP services from Tyler. "We expect Tyler's ASP solution will enable the District to implement MUNIS more quickly and will free our technology team to focus on current district issues. The District also appreciates not having to assume the risk of maintenance, backup and upgrades-all of which will be handled by Tyler.

"We examined ASP services from a broad perspective, factoring in additional hardware, personnel expenses and other related costs that the District would incur without these services. Tyler's MUNIS ASP services proved to be a far more cost-effective solution. It's an excellent option for Liberty County Schools," noted Rogers.

The Liberty County School System educates more than 11,000 pre-K-12 students at 14 schools throughout Liberty County. Located in southeast Georgia, this coastal county of 67,600 residents covers more than 500 square miles. It includes the greater Hinesville-Fort Stewart metropolitan area, with Hinesville serving as the county seat.

Having served as a pilot site for an unsuccessful initiative to implement a statewide Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from SAP, the Rockdale County Public Schools required a replacement system. Tyler's MUNIS financial management system offered ease of use, advanced functionality and a lower total cost of ownership-all of which appealed to the District. Unlike Rockdale's previous software, which required the extensive use of consultants to make system modifications, Tyler's software is designed specifically to meet the needs of the public sector, including K-12 schools, and requires no significant modifications to meet the District's current needs.

Bonnie Knight, Assistant Superintendent for the Rockdale County Public Schools, said the strong presence of Tyler's MUNIS financial management solution in similar organizations was an important consideration in the District's selection of Tyler. "Tyler's MUNIS solution has been implemented by a number of other sites in Georgia, making Tyler extremely familiar with our state-specific reporting requirements and our needs in general.

"The option to tailor MUNIS applications to meet the needs of the District's main users and MUNIS Employee Self Service's ability to provide employees with a means to check and update their own human resources information were also key factors in our decision to purchase the MUNIS system. We believe the District will benefit from MUNIS applications by improving our efficiency through electronic purchase order submissions, document management, contract processing, and expedition of the hiring process," Knight stated.

The Rockdale County Public Schools serves more than 15,000 students at 19 schools and has an annual budget of more than $111 million. Rockdale County, which is a part of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, has a population of more than 70,000 and encompasses an area of 130 square miles.
