Kintera Alumni Engagement Center Helps University of Maryland, Baltimore County Raise More Money and Engage More Alumni

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kintera® Inc. (NASDAQ:KNTA - News) today announced that the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) alumni relations department has increased the number of donors after creating an online community of alumni with Kintera's Alumni Engagement Center solution.

The Kintera Alumni Engagement Center provides easy-to-use content management, communications and online directory tools. Since implementing the solution nearly 18 months ago, UMBC has created an online community that drives alumni engagement, fosters online relationship development, and creates convenient opportunities for "conversations" with and among alumni.

With the assistance of Kintera's Alumni Engagement Center, UMBC has been able to become more efficient, especially in the management of events. The department has totaled more than 6,800 online registrations for 36 events hosted since February 2006. These events have raised over $48,000 for the University, which previously did not charge for events.

The UMBC alumni relations department has also learned that the ease of use and convenience of online giving has proven vital to the department's fundraising efforts. Prior to Kintera, UMBC had no online giving capability. Since implementing Kintera, the department has quickly gone from raising $0 online to more than $150,000. Even while on vacation, the department was able to accept and process donations from online visitors. According to O'Grady, the department received numerous online donations for $1,000 from multiple donors during the holiday break. O'Grady also mentions that many of the online donors were new donors that had not given to the University in the past.
