Kintera Client, Life Rolls On Foundation, Ranks #1 Nonprofit on MySpace
Kintera and Life Rolls On Foundation Offer Tips for Nonprofits to Leverage Social Networking, Drive Web Traffic for Fundraising and Engagement Efforts
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kintera®, Inc. (NASDAQ:KNTA - News) today announced that the Life Rolls On Foundation, a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to raising money for spinal cord injury research and a Kintera client, was recently ranked the number one nonprofit on the social networking site, MySpace.com®. To help other nonprofits benefit from the skyrocketing popularity of social networking, Kintera and Life Rolls On have developed five tips to help nonprofits leverage social networking in their fundraising and engagement efforts.
1. Set up a group page and individual profile: Develop a presence
on social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook by creating a site dedicated to the nonprofit and creating a profile. Make sure group pages and profiles link to each other and link to the nonprofit's Web site so supporters can engage with the nonprofit, donate, or volunteer, all during the same Web experience.
2. Use gadgets: Make individual fundraising tracking tools, such
as Kintera gadgets, available for constituents' use on social networking pages. Most content management solutions have this capability, but nonprofits should check with their provider before offering gadgets to constituents. Gadgets enable supporters to incorporate their involvement with the nonprofit into their social network pages and share the organization's importance in their lives with friends, peers and colleagues.
3. Post bulletins: Regularly post bulletins to announce new tools
for constituents to use on their personal Web pages. Participants will be able to engage friends, family, and colleagues in their efforts. Bulletins should link back to the nonprofit's Web page, where visitors can explore more about the organization and its mission.
4. Recruit volunteers: Recruit volunteers to be "social
networking" ambassadors by establishing a community of volunteers to manage Web initiatives on various social networking sites. Volunteers can have links on their personal page that lead visitors back to the nonprofit's Web site.
5. Promote: Use social networking pages as another medium to
communicate and promote the organization, events, campaigns, etc. Additionally, constituents should be able to promote events, campaigns, etc. on their individual pages.
"By leveraging the power of social networking, Life Rolls On has been able to inspire and motivate both the able-bodied and disabled with the message of achievement in the face of extreme adversity at a much faster rate than traditional methods," said Josh Billauer, board president of Life Rolls On. "MySpace has enabled us to reach out, connect, inspire and motivate more people. As a result, more people are mobilizing to get involved - and get others involved - with Life Rolls On."
"Life Rolls On is a prime example of how nonprofits can effectively use social networking to drive Web traffic and further engage supporters," said Richard LaBarbera, president of Kintera. "Social Networking enables nonprofits to seek and find those individuals that share the organization's mission. As the leading technology provider for nonprofits, Kintera is committed to helping organizations effectively use technology and the Internet to further their cause."
