PeopleSoft founder launches company with on-demand ERP

PeopleSoft Inc. founder David A. Duffield Monday publicly launched his new company, Workday Inc.
Tapping top talent from PeopleSoft, including Aneel Bhusri who joined him in an introductory webcast Monday morning, Duffield is launching his first product, enterprise resource planning software using the on-demand, or as a service, model.

The company goes up against industry leaders including Oracle Corp., which bought PeopleSoft for $10.3 billion in 2005.

Duffield founded Walnut Creek-based Workday in March 2005. The company has begun with human resources software and will branch out into other areas.
