Kintera Named San Diego's #1 Fastest Growing Technology Company by Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 Program

Kintera's 14,159 Percent Revenue Increase from 2001 to 2005 Results in Highest Ranking

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2006--Kintera® Inc. (Nasdaq:KNTA - News) today announced that it has been named the #1 fastest growing technology company by Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 50 Program for San Diego. The Technology Fast 50 Program is a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation's leading professional services organizations. Rankings are based on the percentage revenue growth over five years from 2001-2005.

Kintera's 14,159 percent increase in revenue from 2001 to 2005 resulted in the highest ranking in the Technology Fast 50 for San Diego. In comparison, the second fastest growing technology company in the region grew 4,825 percent.

Kintera's CEO Harry Gruber, M.D. credits the company's revenue growth from 2001-2005 to the nonprofit industry's rapid adoption of Internet technology to raise more money, reach more people and run more efficiently. "Representing approximately 20 percent of the U.S. economy, nonprofit organizations are racing to embrace the Internet to help achieve their missions," said Gruber. "In addition, the hard work and dedication of Kintera's employees to helping nonprofit organizations use technology has contributed substantially to Kintera's rapid growth."

To qualify for the Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2001 and $5,000,000 in 2005, be headquartered in North America, and be a company that owns proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.

Winners of the 16 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies. "Deloitte's San Diego Technology Fast 50 companies have shown the strength, vision and tenacity to succeed in today's very competitive technology environment," said Theresa Drew, Managing Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP in San Diego. "We applaud the successes of Kintera and acknowledge it as one of the very few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past five years."
