Company to Construct Five-Story Office Building at Hacienda Business Park

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2002--PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT - news) today announced that it will begin obtaining permits for the construction of a five-story, 180,000-square-foot office building on 20 acres the company owns in Pleasanton's Hacienda Business Park.

The building site is located next to the corporation's headquarters campus at 4460 Hacienda Drive, where approximately 2,300 employees currently work. Another 1,000 PeopleSoft employees work in leased office space within a few blocks of the new building site. When completed in the third quarter of 2003, the new building will house 800 employees. Some of these employees will be relocated from the leased space.

The site is the last undeveloped portion of PeopleSoft's property in Pleasanton. It is ideally located next to the Pleasanton BART station and is bordered by Highway 580 and the two major feeder streets of Owens and Hacienda. When fully developed, the 20-acre property will accommodate three five-story office buildings and a parking structure.

``We decided to build this first-phase structure after reviewing the current economic strength of the company, future business development plans, and projected employee headcount growth,'' said John Lucas, PeopleSoft vice president of Real Estate and Facilities. ``We also took into account current lease obligations and expirations, and the most cost-effective way to provide work space for our employees.''

The new building will incorporate similar design elements as PeopleSoft's two existing five-story buildings completed in June 2000. The site development plan was included in master plans presented and approved several years ago by the Hacienda Business Owners Association, City of Pleasanton, and County of Alameda. When completed, the new structure will bring PeopleSoft's real estate ownership in Pleasanton to approximately one million square feet in eight buildings.
