Boy Scouts of America Selects Blackbaud CRM Solution as a Key Component for Organizational and IT Transformation

New solution will empower 10,000 BSA users

CHARLESTON, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Blackbaud, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLKB) today announced that the Boy Scouts of America—one of the nation’s largest, most prominent values-based youth development organizations—has chosen Blackbaud CRM software as the platform for its constituent relationship management efforts. Blackbaud CRM software will assist the BSA as it moves to a cutting-edge IT infrastructure offering an improved experience for its members and greater administrative efficiencies.

The Blackbaud CRM solution will be implemented at the Boy Scouts of America’s national office in Irving, Texas, as well as at its 296 local councils nationwide. Blackbaud’s CRM solution, which is specifically designed for the unique needs of nonprofits, will connect over 10,000 BSA users to a centralized database to enable better coordination and expansion of fundraising activities via direct-mail campaigns, product sales, and a direct dialogue with approximately 30 million alumni and supporters.

Historical transformation
As the BSA moves into its second century, it will use the Blackbaud CRM platform, along with other proven IT solutions from AT&T, Dell, and Microsoft, to increase operational efficiency. By using the Blackbaud platform, the BSA can maximize resources and enable its staff and volunteers to better cultivate donors and focus on its mission of preparing young people to become exceptional adults.

“Our organization is composed of thousands of BSA professionals with different computer skill levels. The user-friendliness and adaptability of Blackbaud CRM software make it a good match for our needs,” said Ron Tozzie, chief information officer for the Boy Scouts of America. “Also, we will engage Blackbaud to implement a best-practices workflow throughout our organization—giving us the benefit of its extensive nonprofit management experience and helping us as we continually work to be good stewards of our resources.”

Expanding fundraising
To raise funds for its vital youth programs, the BSA has a variety of fundraising initiatives, including a Friends of Scouting direct marketing campaign to contributors and businesses. Blackbaud CRM software offers many industry-leading direct marketing and Internet tools that will enhance BSA fundraising and donor relations.

“We’re extremely pleased that the Boy Scouts of America has chosen Blackbaud CRM as a key component to its organizational and IT transformation,” said Charlie Cumbaa, president of the enterprise customer business unit at Blackbaud. “The Blackbaud CRM solution will help the Boy Scouts of America work more efficiently, freeing up resources to benefit their local councils and Scouts.”
