Lawson Software to acquire Enwisen for $70M

Lawson Software plans to spend $70 million to acquire Enwisen, which provides Web-based human resources software to companies.

St. Paul-based Lawson (Nasdaq: LWSN) expects the acquisition to close by Dec. 31.

Novato, Calif.-based Enwisen is a privately owned company with about 260 customers, many of them Fortune 1000 companies. Lawson and Enwisen have had a business partnership since 2008, with the two companies packaging some of their software together.

A company’s employees can use Enwisen’s software to sign up for benefits plans and view other human resources related information. Enwisen offers its technology in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) format, allowing customers to pay a monthly subscription to access it online. Lawson has recently begun offering more of its products in a SaaS format.

Enwisen’s products will be incorporated into Lawson’s Human Capital Management business. Human resources software is one of Lawson’s fastest growing markets, the company said in a press statement.
