I appreciate your response. Hopefully this information will help you understand what I am trying to accomplish.
I work for a manufacturer of decorative pillows and other textile products. I may cut and sew 1000 pillows on one work order. However I only want to fill 500 for an order now and leave the others in cover stage (unfilled) for a future order. I have been completing the work order for the quantity filled, but I have to rely on the factory workers to provide this information. It also leaves the work order open until the second 500 is filled.
For example:
Master/Parent/Finished Good P/N: 12345ABC
original BOM consists of the following components:
XXX front fabric
BBB back fabric
TTT trim
LLL label
PPP polyester fill
Qty on work order is 1000 (500 for an order to ship immediately, 500 for an order to ship in February). We cut orders together because it is more cost efficient.
The product goes through cutting and sewing stages for 1,000 pieces. It is then staged in an order pulling dept. At this point, this dept would only pull 500 to send to filling for the immediate ship order. The others are put aside for the future order.
I would like to complete the work order for the 500 so it puts 500 of the Master/Parent/Finished Good P/N: 12345ABC into stock. Then complete the other 500 to a different warehouse called covers. When it is time to fill this order a work order would be done, pulling the component p/n: 12345ABC from the cover warehouse, but the parent with the same p/n is being pulled and finished to warehouse 000. Once it is filled the work order is completed for 500. Therefore releiving the 500 put into covers from the previous work order and putting 500 more parent/finished goods into the master warehouse for invoicing.
I apologize for the length of this message. Please let me know if you can assist. I appreciate your help.
