When a Sales Order is taken, the items on the order are marked in inventory as "Qty On Sales Order", which reduces the "Total Qty Available" field in inventory. If your sales staff is selling items that have already been allocated for another sale, it's because they're looking at the "Qty On Hand" field instead. I think all this could be avoided if they were only allowed to sell items who's "Total Quantity Available" was sufficient to meet demand. Sometimes, you'll need to rush items to customers and may require the ability to sell items allocated for another order. Removing such items from view would prohibit you from assessing your options. If you need to be informed when someone sells an item that's allocated to an order, get Business Alerts Professional and create an alert that e-mails you when an item is sold and there's insufficient qty available or write a Crystal Exception report that provides the same info.
