I use OWP ver 8.0.02, the last version for 3 companies including payroll. I don't have a problem with it shutting down. On one computer, I get the shutdown, and we suspect that the computer is having internal problems. Our other 3 computers in different locations never have a problem with OWP, because theya re newer.
as for backing up, you don't need floppies. Just point the backup to your hard drive, probably c: and you should be OK. If you need ver 8.0.02, I can burn you a copy for $30.00.
As for replacing OWP, I have been looking everywhere and the closest I found was Quickbooks Pro , but there will be a lot of manually entereing of data. I am looking into a person that can convert the data and i will post their name & info, if I am successful early next year.
