I had the smae problem in XP. I would open OWP when I started the computer. If I closed OWP and ran another program such as Explorer or e-mail, I would get the hang up of the starting screen and had to reboot.
My solution was to open OWP and leave it open. What A PITA. I finally downloaded a free utility program called advanced system care 3, and had it optimize my memory. Everything works cool now. The program was recommended by PC Mag,
