It's possible that the developer will not be using eConnect for the customization - It all depends on what you are looking to bring into great plains. They could be modifying the program with dexterity, gp's programing language, which would preclude the use of econnect. They could also be using integration manager - which is an older tool, but far more widespread in its use, which is to bring information in from outside sources - ie excel, sql - into Great Plains.
They could even be using macros to bring in data. Without further information, it would be difficult to say what is the best tool.
