We work with some of the MAS90 products (as well as others like Dynamics and Solomon). We also do work with relational databases.
If you are looking at MAS200 for it's accounting funcionality, a demo should tell you if it is a good fit for your company. Make sure you see a demo or get benchmarks for a similar dataset size as you will be needing. The MAS90 product line has a strong accounting foundation.
If you are looking for a product that takes advantage of Microsoft SQL Server and is based on a normalized database, I would encourage you to make sure your point of contact with Sage is familiar with these items and you are comfortable with the design of the product. (I have not seen the latest service patch but I believe it uses the same table layout as MAS90's Providex product.)
