For decades, accounting professionals have shunned payroll. Perhaps this may have been justified back in the day when ledger paper and pen cluttered accountants' desks. Payroll tasks were indeed time-consuming, tedious, and required complex paycheck processing, multiple tax payments and filings and multiple due dates to add a layer of risk and the possibility of late fee fines. There are many small accounting firms not offering payroll services today. This begs the question, Why would any small accounting firm gamble with its profitability by devoting any time, resources or personnel to incorporate payroll services?
