Tyler Technologies Gains New Education Clients in U.S. and Canada

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL - News) announced today that it has signed software contracts with three school districts in the United States and Canada. The Amphitheater Unified District #10 (Tucson, Arizona), the Louis Riel School Division (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and the Rockbridge County Schools (Lexington, Virginia) have all signed agreements to purchase Tyler’s Education Management solution.

Under the contracts, each district will implement a comprehensive suite of Tyler’s Education Management solution. In addition to software, the districts will receive corresponding professional services, maintenance and support. Tyler’s .NET-based solution meets No Child Left Behind requirements and is SIF (Schools Interoperability Framework) certified.

John S. Marr, Jr., president and CEO of Tyler Technologies, points to these latest contracts for Tyler’s Education Management solution as a clear indication of the solution’s consistent growth in the education market. “School districts across the United States—and now Canada—see the value in Tyler’s Education Management solution. They appreciate its ability to track and maintain student information, as well as its versatile and feature-rich design, which is scalable to accommodate districts both large and small. We welcome these newest clients and look forward to continued growth in the education market,” he commented.

According to Scott Little, CFO for the Amphitheater Unified District, the District expects to gain multiple benefits from implementation of Tyler’s solution. “Tyler’s Education Management solution will give us the functionality we require to enhance operations and meet our needs in a way that our outdated legacy system currently does not. Through implementation of the Tyler solution, we will gain features that we have never had before. We’re looking forward to the parent-student portals, integrated grade book and the attendance functionality,” he stated.

Little also noted that Tyler’s pricing fit Amphitheater’s budget. The District, which educates approximately 16,800 students from pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 at 22 schools, obtained a grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher Incentive Fund. The fund, which is geared toward supporting the development and implementation of performance-based teacher and principal compensation systems, will cover a significant portion of the cost of purchasing Tyler’s Education Management system because the solution will enable the district to maintain data upon which teacher performance pay will be based. The Amphitheater Unified District has 2,263 staff members and extends across a 109-square mile area on the northwest side of Tucson, which is Arizona’s second largest city with 884,000 residents.

Brad Biehn, director of information systems for the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) explained the factors influencing the District’s purchase of Tyler’s solution. “The LRSD was looking to modernize our Student Information System. To that end, we wanted a system written in the latest development environment and one that was based in SQL to align with our other business applications. Tyler’s Education Management system meets these requirements,” he stated.

Additionally, Biehn said easy end-user customization and portalization of information was also important to the LRSD, as was the solution’s Web-based client. “Tyler’s Education Management solution has a well thought out graphical user interface. It offers ease of use without complicated menus or arcane procedures foisted on the end user. Everything you need is just a click or two away. The system’s reporting capabilities and ease of developing reports—features our legacy system lacks—were also key to our decision,” he commented.

The LRSD consists of 40 schools from Kindergarten through grade 12. There are 14,800 students and 1,955 staff in the District. The LRSD is located in Winnipeg, the capital and largest city in the province of Manitoba with 635,000 residents and Canada’s eighth largest city.

The Rockbridge County Schools is the sixth Virginia school district to invest in Tyler’s Education Management solution. Located in Lexington, Virginia, RCS serves 2,700 students from Kindergarten through grade 12 at eight schools and has a staff of 503.
