Tyler Technologies Signs 5-Year Software as a Service Agreement with Town of Westport, Connecticut

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL - News) announced today that it has entered into a five-year Application Service Provider (ASP) contract with the Town of Westport, Connecticut. Under the agreement, Tyler will provide its MUNIS financial management software and related professional services.

The ASP option—a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution—places software administration in the hands of the provider. Tyler will host Westport’s MUNIS software applications and data at its secure facility. It will also supply ongoing support, maintenance and upgrades for software, hardware and operating systems. As a result, the ASP option will free the Town’s information technology resources to focus on other responsibilities.

James Hisey, Westport communications supervisor, commented on the decision to invest in Tyler’s software through its ASP model. “Westport chose Tyler’s ASP solution because it assures the most up-to-date products. Of equal importance is the fact that it will save us time and resources on the IT side, eliminating the need to hire personnel to manage the MUNIS system and install new equipment related to it. Tyler will handle these tasks for us, allowing us to concentrate on other initiatives. Westport will utilize software applications from the MUNIS financial and human resource product suites. The Town has also selected several productivity applications that will improve its workflow and reporting capabilities. These include MUNIS Crystal Reports, Tyler GASB 34 Reporter, Tyler Forms Processing and Tyler GoDocs.

Hisey noted several additional factors influencing Westport’s reason for selecting Tyler’s MUNIS solution to meet its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) needs. “Westport needed to replace its outdated legacy system. Our old system lacked the technology we required to perform at our best, and we were rapidly approaching a time when that system would no longer be supported. We sought an ERP solution that is at the forefront of technology—one that would be a complete solution for the Town and holds the potential to fulfill the needs of our Board of Education in the future.
