New Release of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Showcases Convenience, Speed, and Reliability

New Client Server Version offers HotBackup, faster report-run times, and improved data protection

Lincoln, February 12, 2008 – Today Software Technology, Inc. (STI), announced the release of Version 14.3 of its popular billing, practice management and financial software products. The Client Server Version (CSV) of the 14.3 release introduces HotBackup, a feature that allows firms to back up their data while everyone continues to work in the software. Additionally, CSV includes new Accelerators which significantly decrease the processing time of reports and statements. Also, CSV offers an Auto-Recovery feature enabled by Transaction Processing technology, which helps to ensure that data is kept safe, minimizes corruption, and can greatly reduce downtime.

“HotBackup allows firms to schedule regular backups throughout the workday while people continue to work within the software, which offers greater convenience and peace of mind knowing that you have a backup that is only a few hours old,” said Dan Berlin, President of Software Technology, Inc. “Furthermore, tests of our new Accelerators show that reports and statements in CSV process between 10 and 30 times faster than the multi-user version of our software, which was already very efficient,” added Berlin.

In addition to the convenience of allowing users to continue working in the software while a backup is being performed, HotBackup offers flexible scheduling options, the ability to temporarily suspend backups, and a convenient notification feature that lets you optionally send an e-mail notification when HotBackup has completed. CSV delivers speed with Accelerators that process work on a server and send the results to each user’s computer. This is in contrast to sending all data required for a report across the network so that an individual user’s computer can process the reports. Transaction Processing and Auto-Recovery work together for improved data protection and to greatly minimize any downtime due to computer failure, electrical disruptions, and errors. For example, if a process does not complete properly, Auto-Recovery refers back to the snapshot it took of the data base before the process began and automatically rolls the data back to its previous state so that no error occurs and recovering from a backup is not necessary.
