Foundation Software Donates Accounting System to Austin Children’s Shelter
Package Valued at $10,000 to Benefit Non-Profit’s 2007 Capital Campaign
October 5, 2007, Austin, TX - For Immediate Release: Patrick Smith, Southwest Regional Sales Manager at Foundation Software, Inc., producer of FOUNDATION® for Windows® job cost accounting system, announced today that the company has donated an accounting package valued at $10,000 to the Austin Children’s Shelter. The gift is in response to the shelter’s capital campaign, which seeks to raise $10.9 million in dollars and goods for a major multi-building expansion. In addition to free software, Foundation Software is providing the non-profit agency with on-site training and a full year of technical support, good through December 31, 2008, at no charge.
With the building of a new campus, scheduled to open by the end of 2008, the Austin Children’s Shelter hopes to nearly double the number of children served annually. Thanks to Foundation Software’s donation, administrators at the shelter will soon have the technology they need to handle accounting tasks more efficiently and manage their growing budget.
“Overseeing and managing costs on the construction of a new facility with eight buildings is much too complex for traditional accounting software,” said Jerry Fye, deputy director of finance for the Austin Children's Shelter. “Foundation Software’s generous gift will help to ensure that we can accurately manage the costs of this complex project.”
The Austin Children’s Shelter, which has provided temporary emergency shelter, medical and counseling services for abused and neglected children since 1984, currently operates out of two homes in central Austin. Due to a lack of space and an ever-increasing request for admission for children with a higher level of needs than they can care for, shelter officials say they have had to turn away more than 500 children so far this year. The capital campaign will fund a new campus of five cottages and three buildings that offer a centralized location for emergency shelter, residential treatment care, medical care, counseling, and educational services.
“I can’t think of a more worthy cause for local business to support than the Austin Children’s Shelter,” said Smith. “The new campus will allow the agency to reach more abandoned, abused and neglected kids, and give them hope for a better life. It’s a wonderful opportunity to invest in our community,” he said.
