Foundation Software Earns Technology Enabler Award
Construction Client Uses FOUNDATION for Windows to Streamline Operations
August 28, 2007, Cleveland - For Immediate Release: Foundation Software, producer of FOUNDATION® for Windows® construction accounting, project management and scheduling software, was awarded a Technology Enabler Award during the annual Constructech Vision Awards ceremony. The Technology Enabler Award is presented to leading-edge technology companies that provide the tools contractors need to achieve their goals. This year’s ceremony was held on August 23, 2007 at the Westin Chicago North Shore, in Wheeling, IL.
Winning the Technology Enabler Award for the third time, Foundation Software was recognized this year for providing a commercial mechanical contractor with the powerful job cost accounting tool needed to solve a unique business challenge and serve their long-term technology goals.
Foundation Software client Cy Cooper Company, of Farmington, New Mexico, was awarded a 2007 Silver Vision Award in the Plumbing/HVAC Commercial category for their inventive use of FOUNDATION and other technology products to streamline their business operations. Cy Cooper Company, a family-based contracting firm that specializes in industrial and commercial fire sprinkler design and installation, has lowered their operating costs by linking and synchronizing design, inventory and accounting data via a self-developed application.
Today at Cy Cooper Company, with every new fire sprinkler job design, a detailed parts list is generated, inventory is automatically updated, and all parts are job costed within the FOUNDATION accounting system as materials are pulled from the warehouse. The company is just months away from automating all steps of their sting and inventory processes, so that information is entered just once, at the design phase.
Ireke Cooper, Vice President of Operations, said their integrated system would not have been possible without FOUNDATION job cost accounting software and its flexible, powerful database core: Microsoft SQL. “Similarly, Foundation Software is very open and progressive,” Cooper said. ”Technical support showed me ODBC techniques – making integration very easy – and they helped with the removal of external data on file close to keep the application from becoming a resource hog,” he said. “They get the fact that contractors have different needs and different ways of doing things.”
The Constructech Vision Awards, sponsored by Constructech magazine, seek to honor the most innovative uses of technology by construction-related businesses in the United States. The competition was open to companies involved in the following areas: residential construction,commercial and heavy construction, subcontractors in all trades, architectural and engineering firms, corporate owners, facility management companies, government agencies and land developers.
