eBRIDGE Solves ASN Challenges

The eBridge ASN Add-On Module functions as a valuable extension to your eBridge Integration Solution to streamline the ASN build and delivery process. With the eBridge ASN Add-On Module, each ASN originates from existing documents (such as a sales orders) in the accounting application. Information in the source document, such as trading partner, shipping address, and details (items), is automatically populated into the ASN, relieving the end-user from having to manually enter such information.

With EDI having replaced the traditional method of exchanging business documents (i.e. fax and mail), trading partners have achieved tremendous savings in time and money. One of these documents is the Advance Ship Notice (ASN), which contains details about the contents, packing, destination, and delivery schedule of a specific shipment. It is transmitted to a purchaser prior to the shipment to notify the purchaser concerning the status of the order. Prior to EDI, the vendor would phone or fax customers to notify the purchaser the shipment is being delivered.

Generally, the shipping department of a warehouse is responsible for creating the ASN, packing the cartons, and assigning the cartons to trailers. For companies required to build and deliver ASNs, this process can have its own set of challenges.

With the eBridge ASN Add-On Module, each ASN originates from existing documents (such as a sales orders) in the accounting application. The shipping department then packs the ASN and enters additional shipping details, such as ship date, carrier and total weight. Various packing options are available to decrease packing time, including automatic pack, pack by details, pack details using scanner, and pack by custom template.

The automatic pack feature itself offers further options, including packing the document into one container, packing each document detail into its own container, packing remaining details into one container, and packing a detail by its inner pack value.

Once the shipments have been packed, the ASN Add-On Module allows you to pack containers into trailers if required.

The ASN Add-On Module also features optional print label functionality to create and print UCC-128 labels. This function enables labels to be printed directly from the ASN Add-On Module or from existing label software.
