Construction Industry Software Overview

This weeks feature article takes an in-depth look at software applications targeted at construction companies. The article is actually a two part article in PDF format and was originally published late 2001 in The Project Manager, the journal of the Association for Project Managers. In part I, the author, Mr. Koenig focuses on the state of the construction software industry and then goes on to break down the different levels of accounting software available along with names and examples of solutions within each area. In part II, Mr. Koenig, gets into more of the non-accounting related applications such as estimating and project management that also are geared toward the construction industry and tops it off with some general trends that the industry expect to see in the project managment and collaboration market.
The article is very well written and is at a level that almost anyone, even the most computer challenged, should be able to comprehend and gain value from. If you are in the construction industry and are evaluating new software this is a must read.
