Deltek Announces Initial Release of Deltek Costpoint 4 For The Web

Web-Native Back Office Automation Suite Now Ready for Beta Client Testing

MCLEAN, Va., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Deltek Systems (Nasdaq: DLTK)
(http://www.deltek.com ) today announced the initial release of Deltek
Costpoint(R) 4 for the Web, the company's next generation, Internet-driven
back office automation solution for large and sophisticated project businesses
with enterprise level information and operational requirements. Now ready for
beta client testing, it provides a technically advanced, n-tiered, scalable,
flexible and robust Java-based thin client architecture that allows users to
leverage the power of the Internet while automating distributed back office
activities.

Roy F. Weston's Applications Manager, Bob Hackett, participated in the
Deltek 2001 International User Conference earlier this week in Dallas, Texas.
"After attending the conference session overview and viewing a product
demonstration, we're very excited about Deltek's success in integrating the
latest Internet technologies into Deltek Costpoint 4 for the Web. Over the
past few years, our organization has come to rely on browser-based access for
managing an increasing number of business functions. The Web version will
provide Roy F. Weston with a very powerful solution for facing many of today's
business issues, such as remote access, telecommuting and desktop support."

Deltek's Vice President of the Deltek Costpoint Product Group, John Kidd,
explains, "Deltek Costpoint 4 for the Web gives Deltek clients the best of
both worlds as the most complete and best functional and technical solution
for large and sophisticated project businesses. It combines a feature-rich and
powerful graphical user interface with the technically advanced Internet n-
tier architecture, allowing users in remote offices to access the project
accounting and financial back office functions using nothing more than a
browser. The zero footprint on the client PC also gives IT managers tremendous
flexibility in deploying these functions across the enterprise."

Deltek developed the Java architecture for Deltek Costpoint 4 for the Web
using the Enterprise JavaBeans(TM) (EJB) application programming interface, in
conjunction with the WebLogic(R) Application Server technology developed by
BEA Systems, Inc. Designed as a portable, platform-independent model written
in Java programming language, EJB provides the technology, scalability, power
and business requirements essential for increasing business productivity.

Deltek selected the BEA WebLogic Application Server technology because it
supports the wide variety of server and database platforms used by Deltek
clients as well as UNIX, NT, and LINUX. Installing Deltek Costpoint 4 for the
Web only on the WebLogic application server lowers security risks and produces
faster connectivity because each workstation requires only a browser, and
because of the reduced frequency of connections and access to the database.
WebLogic also provides automatic load balance and automatic fail-over to
minimize interruptions and server downtime.

The client/server version of Deltek Costpoint, which is already used by
more than 700 of the most advanced project businesses around the world for
automating project accounting, finance, HR and payroll, materials management
and other back office activities, is being used as the baseline for developing
the Web-based applications in Deltek Costpoint 4 for the Web.

Deltek is following a "staggered" release approach in which selected Web-
based applications will be delivered in segments. Today's release of the
initial set of applications, which includes dozens of input screens relating
to key business practices such as project and employee setup and vendor and
payables processing, enables users to configure the application and Web
servers. Once the initial setup is complete, users can update the application
server at any time with the latest software enhancements or program
corrections.
