Lawson Cloverleaf Integration Technology Selected by Physicians Health Alliance and Buffalo Medical Group to Help Improve Access to Patient Data

Marks healthcare community’s growing demand for greater efficiency and transparency to improve the quality of patient care

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced it has signed contracts with Physicians Health Alliance, Inc., and Buffalo Medical Group, PC, to implement the Lawson Cloverleaf Integration Suite. Lawson Cloverleaf will help these organizations provide clinicians with faster, more accurate access to a wide range of patient data, including medical records and lab results, at the point of care. The contracts were signed during the second quarter of Lawson’s 2011 fiscal year, which ended on Nov. 30, 2010. Lawson Professional Services will assist with the implementations.

Physicians Health Alliance, which serves Lackawanna County and surrounding counties in northeast Pennsylvania, provides care in a number of specialties including internal medicine and family practice, adolescent medicine, podiatry, and obstetrics and gynecology. The organization selected the Lawson Cloverleaf solution to help connect key internal systems, and to help establish an infrastructure to support the exchange of clinical data with other organizations in the future.

“We chose the Lawson Cloverleaf solution because it provided the most flexibility in meeting our implementation challenges,” said Patricia Gallacher, CIO, Ambulatory Care for Physicians Health Alliance. “Like many organizations, we’re currently using point-to-point interfaces to send and receive data, which are cumbersome to manage and create a lot of redundancies. Lawson’s solution will help us increase efficiency and reduce administrative costs so we can focus more fully on delivering quality patient care.”

Buffalo Medical Group, founded in 1946, is among the oldest and largest multi-specialty physician group practices in New York State with more than 100 specialists and sub specialists. Known as a premier provider of diagnostic and treatment services, it operates its own New York State Health Department approved infusion center, as well as laboratory, x-ray, nuclear medicine, physical therapy and radiation therapy departments. Buffalo Medical Group selected the Lawson solution to help connect its various critical applications containing patient data to better support information flow across departments and locations.

“One of our goals at Buffalo Medical Group is to position our organization so we are able to connect BMG systems with local hospitals, which will help us benefit from a secure, open exchange of patient data,” said Kevin Waterman, director of Information Technology for Buffalo Medical Group. “We’ve always been focused on providing the best in patient care. Giving our physicians access to up-to-date information will help our staff make more informed decisions at the point of care. We chose the Lawson Cloverleaf solution because of its market leadership and flexibility to evolve along with us.”

Lawson Cloverleaf Data Integrator can help healthcare professionals streamline the search for patient records and other life-sustaining information. It is part of the Lawson Cloverleaf Integration Suite, an integration technology platform that is at work in thousands of facilities around the world – 40 percent of all large integrated delivery networks and 33 percent of all hospitals in North America.

“The entire healthcare community is demanding greater efficiency, transparency and quality – and the commitment from Physicians Health Alliance and Buffalo Medical Group to help streamline their IT infrastructures underscores this demand,” said Jim Catalino, senior vice president and general manager, Lawson Healthcare. “Lawson understands the need for healthcare organizations to connect clinical information across a variety of healthcare information systems, while maintaining the integrity of patient information. We provide health information exchange and interoperability solutions to allow for more secure access to patient interactions throughout the healthcare enterprise.”
