With a fresh and edgy approach, Fred Ode, Founder/CEO of Foundation Software, Inc., says what no one else is willing to say. In his first post called “Stop Whining! Government Jobs Are Not Impossible!”, Mr. Ode talks about growing older, learning to blog, and taking on government work. Concerning the fear that many contractors have about doing government work, he writes, “At the risk of offending a number of you, stop whining and seize this opportunity.” As the blog progresses, Mr. Ode plans to candidly address the obstacles and current events that construction businesses encounter.

Mr. Ode draws from his colorful past: traveling the world, working in the oil fields in Odessa, Texas, running with the hounds in England, and floating in the Dead Sea in Israel. He slept in hostels, fields, and even in a mud hut in Spain before he returned to the United States. As fate would have it, Mr. Ode took a programming course, then began working for a software firm, and then a construction company. He spent two years writing the original version of what would become America’s #1 construction accounting software.

Mr. Ode has formed opinions with all his worldly and construction-oriented experience. He had this to say about starting a blog: “Blogging is fun. It seems like the perfect opportunity to talk about what is on my mind. I want to interact with the construction industry on a professional level, as well as in casual circumstances. I want to hear what people have to say and what they want to know.”
