Construction Accounting Software Developer Foundation Software Employee Appointed to NAWIC Board of Directors

Patty Walker has been officially installed on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Chapter #156 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).

October 1, 2010, Cleveland – For Immediate Release: Foundation Software Inc., developer of the award-winning FOUNDATION® for Windows® construction accounting software, is pleased to announce that Patty Walker has been officially installed on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Chapter #156 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).

NAWIC began in 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas as a support network to represent the small fraction of women in the construction industry. Since it began, it has grown to a membership of 5,500 women with more than 160 chapters, spanning all areas of involvement in construction.

Ms. Walker has been involved with NAWIC since 2005, and joined a committee on her fourth day of membership. Since then, she has held multiple positions. She served as a Director from 2004 to 2007, and between 2008 and 2009, she served as Vice President. Ms. Walker’s recent installment onto the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Chapter gives her the opportunity to become more involved with NAWIC and to advance the awareness and recognition of women in the construction industry.

“It feels good to be involved with an association that is so focused on bettering the construction industry through education and awareness,” Ms. Walker said. “We provide opportunities and services to women in construction, but also strive to create a united front among all workers in the industry.”

Recently, Ms. Walker attended the National Convention for NAWIC in Louisville, Kentucky and her focus this year will be co-chairing an event called MAGIC Camp in July 2011. MAGIC stands for Mentoring a Girl in Construction.
