Journyx Announces Winner of “Excellence In Productivity Philosophy” Scholarship

Contest for 2010 is Now Open for University Students to Compete for Prize Money

AUSTIN, TEXAS (July 28, 2009) -- Journyx -- the first company to provide Web-based time-tracking, project accounting and resource management solutions that guide customers to per-person, per-project profitability -- today announces that K. Michelle Nanney, a student at Indiana University, is the winner of the 2009 Journyx “Excellence In Productivity Philosophy” scholarship. Nanney’s winning essay tackled the subject of persuading someone who doesn't want to track time on a per-product per-activity basis why it is in his or her best interests to do so.

An excerpt of Nanney’s essay reads, “I tracked my time at each activity for one week. I wanted to make sure that the results were correct so I didn’t review or evaluate the data until after the week was over. On the weekend, I created a spreadsheet, calculated my times at each activity, and sorted the columns by amount of time. As I developed the spreadsheet with the information, I was fully prepared to tell my husband, ‘I told you so.’ To my surprise, it was my husband who was able to make that comment to me. From the analysis, the majority of my time was spent handling customer questions via email. In fact, it was such a huge chunk of time that all other activities paled in comparison. I was stunned.” Read Nanney’s complete essay here.

As the winner of the scholarship, Nanney receives $500 towards tuition reimbursement.

Today, Journyx also launches the 2010 “Excellence In Productivity Philosophy” essay scholarship. Full-time university students are invited to submit an essay on one of the following topics: "Describe a real situation that you've encountered where project oriented time tracking has made a positive difference in the world" or "Discuss how better resource management processes can improve a company's bottom line."

The scholarship, which will run through June 1, 2010, will award $500 USD toward college tuition and fees to the winning essayist. See complete rules here.
