Be Green, Save Green with Journyx Timesheet

Hosted Applications, Like Timesheet, Offer Companies a Win-Win Situation for Lowering Costs While Raising Green Awareness

AUSTIN, TEXAS (July 8, 2008) – Journyx today announces that organizations worldwide can lower costs while also being more "green" by using Timesheet Online. Timesheet Online provides two key green benefits out of the box: as a hosted Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application, it encourages telecommuting, and customers are effectively "carpooling" their applications into a central data center, which also cuts companies' costs. Journyx is the first company to provide Web-based time-tracking and project accounting solutions that guide customers to per-person, per-project profitability.

Being Green

SaaS applications such as Timesheet Online fully enable telecommuting. Timesheet Online allows knowledge workers to track their time and understand project status from anywhere with an internet connection. This includes client sites, home offices, airports and even coffee shops where these workers can be productive without consuming fossil fuels.

When companies choose Timesheet Online, they're effectively carpooling or taking mass transit. The Journyx central data center already provides the computing resources to run every customer's installation of Timesheet Online. Customers do not need to consume critical resources to generate the power for their own host machine. Further, the redundant backup power, HVAC systems, etc. are also handled by the Journyx data center and not the customer, which not only helps the environment, but the customer's bottom line.

A Journyx customer with direct involvement in the preservation of the environment confirms that in very large organizations with dozens of offices, automated timekeeping systems such as Timesheet avoid the waste of paper and shipping envelopes, and help keep attendant costs down. The customer also explains that a secondary benefit in such firms is that it provides earlier, paperless integration into project management and avoids multiple iterations of project management reports, which is also wasteful and environmentally unsound.

Saving Green

Journyx CEO Curt Finch offers this suggestion to entrepreneurs starting a new business: "If I was starting a company today, I wouldn't buy a single server. I would do my best to avoid acting as or hiring an IT professional. I would do everything with SaaS. I would use a customer relationship management tool for my contact management, and I would use a SaaS accounting application. I would outsource email and document storage. I would have no servers at all. Without servers and their accompanying headaches, I could focus on serving my customers instead of building a bunch of technology infrastructure that is, at this point, redundant."
