Dr. Quick Books, Inc. - QuickBooks & Quicken Help, Support, Setup, Training, Classes, and Sales

About the Company

As "Dr. QuickBooks & Quicken", I make house calls to solve your problems, set up your new business's books, review what you have done, train you how to use the software properly, and sell you the software I think you might need.

I'm an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor with additional certification in Intuit's Online, Point of Sale (POS), and Enterprise (mid-market) software, a former "COO", was named a top 100 ProAdvisor by Intuitive Accountant in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014, & was nominated for the City of Seattle Mayor's Small Business Award in 2009.

I provide customized, in-person, one-on-one training, tutoring, classes, instruction, seminars, private lessons, online and telephone help, and bookkeeping and accounting support at your pace and skill level based on what you know (or don't) at your office, quiet coffee/tea shop, or my place in Greater Seattle.

Why fight traffic to attend a class and go at the slowest person's pace (yawn) (do you really want to ask "delicate" questions about your business in front of others?) when I will make house calls like an old fashioned doctor and come to you to make you financially well and software literate.

Hourly, session, and unlimited one year rates are at the end of this section of my profile and on my web site.

Learn how to effectively use QuickBooks(there are 5 (the former Simple Start, current Pro for Windows, Premier [Contractor, Retail, Professional Services, Nonprofit, Manufacturing & Wholesale, and Accountant], and Enterprise for Windows, QuickBooks for the Mac, and Online, Point of Sale for retail businesses), or Quicken for (Windows or Mac) to properly set up your financial records so you can fish (or make Tofu if you are a vegan) for yourself, save on accountant's fees, worry less, and sleep better.

There is nothing more fun than watching someone's eyes light up as they gain the self-confidence by making their financial or accounting software work for them instead of the other way around and learn how to produce financial reports that tell them how their business or personal finances are really doing.

And so they don't make the mistakes several of my small business clients made by (1) creating their chart of accounts for a C corporation when they were a LLC which screwed up their tax accounting; (2) setting up their credit card as an expense account instead of as a credit card; (3) setting up their vendors as customers and vice versa; (4) recording all their payments individually instead of matching them up with the actual bank deposit; and not updating their program.

Do you need someone to set up or check your business or start up's chart of accounts, financial records, or books? Have you slowly come to the realization that you don't know how to use your accounting software and it is affecting your bottom line? Has your company grown to the point where it would be nice to have someone come in to review what you are doing or have done and then train, tutor, and instruct you and your staff and let you make more money by doing what you really enjoy doing which is also billable?

Or would you rather sit in the dark?

Well, send me an e-mail and let's chat for 10 minutes about what I can or can't do for you.

You've hired an attorney, accountant, insurance broker, business coach, SEO expert, marketing pro, and others to help you start and manage your business. Shouldn't you hire someone to teach you how to effectively use the accounting software that you'll be relying on to discover how well you are (or aren't) doing?

As someone who has been a bookkeeper and ran the day to day aspects of a medium sized business, I've been in your shoes.

My company is a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business. I am a member of the Intuit Accountant's, Small Business, and TurboTax Inner Circle which advises the company on their products.

If you want to know what would be covered in a session, please go to the middle of my What I Do Best section below.

I have three pricing arrangements for you to choose from.

If you only think you need my services on an hourly basis to address a specific issue, use POS or Enterprise, or just to review your work, I am available on an hourly basis.

The second is a flat amount for up to a three consecutive hour session, (I find most people need that time to for a new company setup, basically learn their program, or have their company file checked) and an additional amount an hour thereafter on the same day so you can count dollars instead of sheep and learn how to fish (or make tofu if you are a vegan) for yourself.

The third is unlimited training for one year for one person in a company for QuickBooks Online, Pro (or Premier if you're not using features unique to that version), or Mac for a fixed amount plus IRS mileage both ways. Travel time applies outside the Seattle area.

What you do best

In my QuickBooks and Quicken tutor hat, I have been told that I am "very calm and patient") with humans and animals (dogs and cats like me).

Let me explain the best way to establish your company's books including mapping tax lines to your chart of accounts to make it easier to file your income taxes yourself or keep your accountant happy and how to use financial software effectively by adopting certain financial procedures.

I enjoy working with frustrated business owners who want to learn how to use the program (or others) but feel lost, don't know if they are making money, or know their financial records are screwed up but are too embarrassed to ask for help.

I don't judge. I have seen it all. You gain my respect by asking for help rather than hiding your head in the sand. Isn't that the way it should be?
Let me show you how to do the following:

Help you pick the right QuickBooks program for your business;

Use my Intuit Solution Provider status (in case you want to buy new software as your new computer won't run your old software, add additional licenses, upgrade, or add payroll or credit card processing services). In some case, I might even be able to get you a 30-day trial of either the PC or Mac programs so you can decide if they are right for you;

Converting company files from other software programs such as Peachtree, Microsoft Small Business Accounting or Office Accounting, Money, and Quicken;

Set-up your initial financial Chart of Accounts applicable to your business (something software can't personally provide) including bank, petty cash, employee advances, fixed assets, inventory and other assets, credit cards, loans, payroll, sales tax payable, and other liabilities, taxable and non taxable sales or services, fixed or nut expenses (the bills you have to pay every month) versus variable and setting up tax lines for most accounts to make it easier to file your income tax returns and save on your accountant's fees;

Explain why your chart of accounts should be numbered and when you should use classes;

Set up your accounting software for On-line Banking for real-time knowledge on where your account balances currently are at including some credit cards (unless you like to pay over limit and NSF fees);

The proper way to record personal credit card charges and checks written so you can reimburse yourself;

Show you how to turn on certain preferences in QuickBooks related to your business that can save you data entry time;

Establish correct service, non-inventory, other charges, sales tax items, inventory, & inventory assemblies items, groups of items, and adjusting Inventory (and if you sell informing you why it is important to keep track of your shipping costs);

Job Costing (don't you want to know how profitable X job was?) and Estimates (including how to convert your estimates into an invoice);

Bank, Petty Cash, Credit Card, and other Account Reconciliation;

Bill and Credit Card Posting including matching up net credit card receipts to customer charges when your processing company deducts its fees from your received payment;

Show you how to design your own customized forms such as Estimates, Invoices, or Sales Receipts with your company logo and advance payments by your customers;
Demonstrate the proper way to receive and deposit payments;

Teach you how to set up and file your City & State B&O and Sales Taxes and the new Destination or Location based Sales Tax rules;

Online Payroll and direct deposit through QuickBooks whether you are one employee, three, five, or 18;

Use QuickBooks to prepare your Payroll Taxes and Forms (Unemployment, Worker's Comp, & IRS) and pay them online;

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year end management financial reports including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow predictions, and who are your most profitable customers or job productivity.
