Some of the more challenging issues that companies face in the food and food services sector have to do with Vendor and Customer claimbacks and rebate programs. Complex issues such as these are often not well represented in your standard Accounting Software program. Another issue is catch weights where, say a company purchases raw chicken by the box and gets charged by the pound; but sell it by the chicken, by weight. Different quantities of chickens reside in each box and need to be placed into inventory at the correct costs and sold also by the pound.
