Greetings: When creating new accounts, the default account type is "Bank Account" ... this is the first item in the account type pull-down list. I am validating QB files where several accounts have been wrongly created as "Bank Account" ... when, in fact, they are "Credit Card" or other type of account. I have corrected this in the "Chart of Accounts" window [right-click on account | Edit] and ensured that all accounts are now the correct type. Now, however, I run into difficulties when I try to repost some of the credit card transactions to a different expense category (they were wrongly posted when first entered). QB won't let me do this ... it forces me to change the payment method (credit card). It shows the "Cheque" screen with "Bank Account" in the top left corner of that window and with a pull-down box showing the "Credit Card" account in reverse video. It won't let me change the posting (expense) account unless I first change payment method to a "Bank Account" account. This transaction *WAS* a "Credit Card transaction; and, of course, I don't want to change this. It seems that, although I have now corrected the file type for the "Credit Card" account items, QB still thinks these "Credit Card" transactions are type "Bank Account." It was suggested that I do a database rebuild, using the command: File | Utilities | Rebuild Data I tried this (after backing up) ... but it seems that this procedure did not fix the problem. Do any of you QB wizards know how I can fix this?!? Thanks in advance!
