PROJECT ACCOUNTING MANAGER
$80-95K depending upon scope, willing to re-locate.
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Project Accounting Manager will oversee the project accounting function and manage a Senior Project Accountant, a Project Accountant and a Senior Accountant. Working closely with the program management team, the Project Accounting Manager has the key responsibility to effectively and accurately account for the capital expenditures for several state government and international contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly reporting packages of actual and forecasted expenditures on a variety of capital projects, including variance analysis, estimates to complete, and recoverability analysis.
• Lead the design, development and coordination of the Program Control Reviews.
• Conduct reviews for risks and opportunities in program status.
• Oversee all fixed assets and property taxes and drive the fixed asset system at multiple locations.
• Evaluate multiple elements of contracts and recommend appropriate revenue recognition compliance
• Support product development teams on new product initiatives.
• Analyze and communicate the appropriate GAAP applications to new product initiatives.
• Keep program management informed on changes to accounting policies and procedures.
• Meet with program management monthly to review project progress and work with them on solving and documenting any variances to company procedures.
• Ensure the company’s ERP - Great Plains project accounting system is accurately maintained and produces accurate and timely reporting.
Key Competencies:
• Good working knowledge of Earned Value Management
• GAAP and SAB 101
• Strong long-term contract / project accounting and revenue recognition knowledge
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley, 404 certification a plus
Experience and Education:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• CPA IS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
• Over 5 years of overall relevant accounting experience with strong project accounting emphasis in a capital intensive public company
• Minimum of 2 years experience with a Public Accounting firm
• 2 to 3 years managing an accounting function and team.
• Working with ERP systems, preferably Great Plains, and solid MS Office skills
