Lawson Sees Momentum With Lawson System Foundation 9

LSF 9 Sets Foundation for Lawson's Next-Generation Applications and SOA for Customers

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2006--Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN - News) said it is seeing solid momentum from its customers across all its primary vertical markets in adopting Lawson's new technology platform, Lawson System Foundation 9. Organizations in healthcare, retail and the public sector are moving to the technology for the performance and scalability it provides.

Lawson System Foundation (LSF 9) combines Lawson's newest technology with marketplace-leading software from IBM for a high-performance, standards-based technology solution that delivers solid security, scalability and usability. It also provides a platform for future of Lawson applications designed for use within service-oriented architectures (SOA), such as Lawson Strategic Sourcing.

Some of the first Lawson customers moving to LSF 9 include: healthcare providers Catholic Healthcare West, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Trinity Health (Novi, Mich.); public sector organizations Buncombe County, N.C., City of Greensboro, N.C., and the State of Michigan; retailers Friendly Ice Cream Corporation, L.L. Bean, Inc. and United Supermarkets, Ltd. and chemical distributor Univar USA Inc.

The City of Greensboro, an existing Lawson customer that uses several Lawson application suites, recently went live on LSF with positive results. "LSF, in combination with Lawson 9 applications and portal, has superior speed, functionality and look and feel when compared to its 8.x predecessor," said Chryste Hofer, Director of ERP at City of Greensboro. "LSF 9 gives us a strong basis to build our technology solutions on for the future."

Based on customer suggestions and feedback, LSF 9 provides an improved user interface based on user-centered design principles.

Additionally, LSF 9 was designed for straightforward deployment, requiring an installation effort similar to a technology refresh to minimize disruption to customers' business operations or mission-critical applications. Separating the technical foundation from the applications, Lawson provides cross-version compatibility so Lawson customers can easily upgrade their enterprise applications and technology incrementally and separately -- on their own schedules and budgets.

LSF 9 includes IBM's leading WebSphere Application Server ND 6.0, Tivoli Directory Server 6.0 and DB2 technology, but together with the required WebSphere Application Server represent opportunities for Lawson customers to consolidate and better leverage their IT investments. LSF 9 is currently available for Unix and Windows platforms.

"LSF 9 sets the foundation for next-generation Lawson applications and SOA," said Maher Hakim, senior vice president of product management, Lawson Software. "We believe that this is the best technology solution for Lawson customers, especially mid-market customers, because it delivers great quality at great value and low total cost of ownership."
