Lawson to Implement Financial, Human Resources and Procurement Applications at Catholic Health Initiatives

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 2003--Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN - News) will implement Lawson Financials, Procurement, Human Resources, Service Process Optimization and Enterprise Performance Management applications at Catholic Health Initiatives, as part of a contract signed in Lawson's first quarter, which ended Aug. 31.

CHI is a 19-state system and one of the largest Catholic healthcare organizations in the United States with consolidated annual operating revenues of $5.9 billion. It is composed of 68 hospitals; 44 long-term care, assisted-living and residential units, and six community health services organizations, each with its own legacy software systems to support and maintain.

The Lawson systems implementation is part of an organization-wide effort to manage resources more effectively, with the goal being to integrate all CHI financial, procurement and human resources systems on a single, centralized platform.

The Lawson applications will enable CHI to share data among business groups and facilities, providing a more complete view of the entire organization. Consolidation of disparate systems on a single, integrated set of applications achieves efficiencies and reduces the number of systems that IT staff support nationwide.

Lawson Human Resources will provide one interface for employee activities ranging from enrolling for benefits enrollment to filing performance reports. Lawson Financials and Procurement will streamline financial reporting, track purchase orders, and help the organization lower costs and achieve pricing parity for all of its facilities.

"CHI is selecting strategic partners to help them strengthen and grow," said Angie Franks, Lawson director of healthcare market development. "Lawson will be one of those partners, providing healthcare applications to support the entire organization."

The Lawson applications will be implemented in CHI facilities nationwide during the next five years. The first major market implementation will be completed in 2005.

Lawson serves more than 400 healthcare industry customers representing more than 4,500 facilities, including nine of the top 15 integrated delivery networks. The company serves more than 50 percent of all Catholic health organizations in the United States, including Catholic Health East and Catholic Health West. Lawson also serves managed care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, clinics, physician group practices, home healthcare, long-term care and other health services enterprises. Lawson solutions help healthcare organizations manage their business so they can focus on their patients, automate and streamline materials management for a better bottom line, and overcome the challenges of labor shortages.
