Plastech Expands its Geac System21 ERP Solution to Accommodate Company Growth, Acquisitions

Real-Time, Uniform Information Optimizes Automotive Supplier's Operations Across the Enterprise

MARKHAM, ON, May 19 /CNW/ - Geac(R) (TSX:GAC and NASDAQ:GEAC), a global enterprise software company for Business Performance Management, announced today that Plastech Engineered Products, Inc., a premiere manufacturer of blow-molded and injection-molded plastic products for the automotive industry, has purchased additional user licenses to expand the use of Geac System21 enterprise resource planning (ERP) system throughout its organization. The value of this new contract with Plastech, a Geac System21 customer since 1997, exceeds $300,000 in software license and maintenance revenue.

A diversified custom manufacturer of injection-molded products and automotive trim, Plastech's foremost objective is to deliver high quality products on a timely basis. With Geac System21, Plastech can ensure quality manufacturing and prompt production and delivery schedules. Plastech uses System21 to integrate financial reporting, purchasing, inventory management, and manufacturing to achieve the highest level of operational performance. System21 also incorporates a customized plant floor scheduling application, developed by Plastech.

"Geac System21 supported our growth from a $200 million company to a $1.2 billion corporation with an application suite that provides real-time, uniform data that is equally maintained and accessible across all our divisions," said David LeBlanc, Vice President of Information Technology, Plastech. "We can retrieve information regarding high-scrap items, identify which plants use specific types of resin, and monitor manufacturing run rates - all at our fingertips. Our company can use data more strategically to improve our business and serve our customers more effectively."

Having recently acquired LDM Technologies, an interior and exterior plastic trim manufacturer which had been using an ERP system from another vendor, Plastech contracted an independent consulting company to conduct an analysis of both companies' existing ERP systems. With the results favoring Geac System21 in cost for performance, Plastech is replacing the ERP seats at the 15 acquired LDM plants with System21. Plastech will now be using System21 across all of its 33 manufacturing locations.

Upon completion of the company-wide implementation of System21, Plastech plans to upgrade all user sites to Geac System21 Aurora, Geac's next-generation ERP systems with real-time business process management capabilities, for a seamless adoption of enhanced financial reporting, analysis and planning functionality.

"We are pleased that Plastech has experienced solid performance from System21 and is replicating its value across the greater company," said Timothy Wright, CTO of Geac. "Geac is dedicated to maximizing the return on investment that our customers realize from their technology systems and to heightening their business performance. We look forward to taking Plastech to new levels of operational efficiency with a strong foundation for performance management solutions that can support Plastech's business strategies."
